102 additional expected SOCOM MRAP orders in $686M MRAP Disbursement, will presumably fund BAE or GDLS orders, and not NAV or OSK.
July 08, 2010

The June 29th DoD Comptroller disbursement of $686M from 2010 “OCO” Transfer Fund, into MRAP Vehicle Procurement Account. Of that $686M, $271M is for O&M to transport M-ATV to OEF. Another $255M is for CROWS systems, which restores shortfall from recent DoD Reprogramming. Additional $20M is to Army RDT&E “Combat Vehicle and Automotive Advanced Technology” Program Element, presumably for TARDEC’s “Combat Vehicle Survivability” Program, or “Ground Vehicle Demonstration” Program.
Lastly, there is $140M to DoD-wide Procurement, for additional 102 MRAP Vehicles for SOCOM. ($1.4M each, presumably including Hull; GFE Electronics; plus 1st year “Field-Support Representative” Logistics/Sustainment). SOCOM’s current MRAP Fleet is 984 Vehicles, comprised primarily of BAE RG-33 (351); GDLS Canada RG-31 (237); and OSK M-ATV (293). However, recent SOCOM MRAP awards have shown preference for BAE RG-33, or GDLS-C RG-31.
Consequently, absent unique circumstances, strong inference arises that 102 additional expected SOCOM Vehicle/orders will be made to BAE or GDLS-C, rather than to OSK M-ATV or NAV MaxxPro/Dash. However, this is obviously subject to final discretion of SOCOM & MRAP PEO.
